The Billbergia Group’s 11-hectare Wentworth Point Town Centre project has taken out the prestigious Excellence in Master Planned Communities Award, at the UDIA NSW’s annual presentation night in Sydney.

The award builds on Billbergia’s impressive list of industry accolades for its $4-Billion Wentworth Point Town Centre development project.

Mr John Kinsella AM, Managing Director of the Billbergia Group said: “The award is testament to the company’s 15-year vision to create a sustainable new community with a high level of amenity and livability”.

Planned over seven stages (with six of seven now complete) the Wentworth Point Town Centre is based on a Master Plan by architectural and urban design firm Scott Carver. The project incorporates:

• 3,700 apartments (on completion);
• 3,500sqm community centre and library;
• Award-winning ‘super neighbourhood’ shopping centre with active street frontages and outdoor dining;
• High-quality granite paved streets and deep planted mature landscaping;
• Privately funded public transport bridge that connects the precinct to the city’s heavy rail network; and
• High frequency – Baylink Shuttle community bus service.

The award was judged by a panel of industry-leading experts, who commended the project ‘…for successfully balancing the size and scale of buildings with a hierarchy of built form.’

‘…The result is an excellent example of a well-considered and executed master-planned community, which has created the feel of a small city, with high-quality amenity and landscaping that has combined to create a sophisticated liveable community…’

Mr Kinsella said the award demonstrates the ‘place-based approach’ adopted by the development and urban design teams, which put the community at the heart of the design.

From a planning perspective, the Wentworth Point Master Plan stands apart from the traditional approach to development and urban renewal.

The project sets an industry benchmark by delivering the necessary transport and social infrastructure, ahead of residential development. The result is a sustainable new community with an outstanding level of amenity that provides easy access to transport, shopping, dining and a range of social and community infrastructure.
